Udaipur is famous for its grand two-day Holi celebrations. The festivities kick off with a bonfire called “Holika Dahan” at the City Palace. The Mewar king lights the fire, and locals perform a folk dance called ‘Gair’. The king also meets all the royal guests and dignitaries.

After the bonfire, there’s a big parade with the royal family on decorated camels, elephants, and horses. The parade starts from Shambhu Niwas Palace and ends at Manek Chowk. The day wraps up with a dinner at the palace and a fireworks show.

On the second day, everyone in the city plays Holi with dry and wet colors, water guns, and balloons. People also make traditional sweets and dance and sing folk songs. Hotels and resorts in Udaipur also host Holi parties with DJs, colors, and refreshments.

The Holi celebrations in Udaipur are known for their unique traditions and lively festivities. The Holika Dahan at Jagdish Temple is particularly famous, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The next day, people gather at Jagdish Temple and Gangaur Ghat for the Dulandi celebrations, where they play with colors, dance to traditional music, and enjoy delicious food.

In Menar village, the day after the Jamara Beej ceremony marks Dulandi. The Menariya community celebrates Holi with traditional rituals, including planting Jamara seeds. The celebrations, which include colorful festivities and fireworks, are especially memorable at night.
