Early life and education

Julie Falconer was born in San Francisco, California. She graduated from Brown University in Rhode Island with a BA in International Relations in 2004. During her studies, she participated in various activities, including the Brown Journal of World Affairs and the Community Health Advocacy Program[2]. Julie also studied abroad at Collegium Hieronymi Pragensis in Prague, Czech Republic, focusing on International Relations, Economics, the Czech Language, and the History of Art and Architecture. Additionally, she attended an intensive French language program in Nice, France, through EF International.


Julie began her career in finance in the United States. She worked as an analyst for Goldman Sachs and a hedge fund before moving to the UK in 2007. In the same year, she launched her travel blog, A Lady in London[3], which quickly gained popularity for its detailed coverage of London's lifestyle and beautiful travel destinations. In 2010, Julie made blogging her full-time job and expanded her services to include travel planning and blog coaching.

In 2022, Julie launched a second blog, California Wayfaring, dedicated to exploring the hidden gems and great escapes in California.
